Mar Andrew Bava (Kallada Valyappooppan): The church became a major pilgrimage center due to the tomb (Madbaha) of Saint Mar Andrew Bava, who arrived in Kerala from Syria in the 17th century. He is also known as "Kallada Mooppan."
Symbol of Religious Harmony: A wooden pillar in the church over 700 years old features carvings of the Christian Cross, a Hindu symbol, and the Islamic Crescent. This stands as a fine example of the region's centuries-old religious harmony.
Former Name: In earlier times, this church was known as "Thulasserry Manapparathu Marthamariyam Pally."
